Today children celebrated Halloween at Susan's. They participated in a variety of activities (as illustrated below) and had a fantabulous time!! We hope everyone had a safe and fun time trick-or-treating!! :)
Carving Pumpkins
Thanks to one of our client's parents, we were able to acquire enough pumpkins for each child to carve into a jack-o-lantern. They LOVED pulling out the "guts" and creating fun faces (there was even a princess pumpkin). We lit our jack-o-lanterns and then used them as our light during dance time. We also cooked the seeds and had them as part of our afternoon snack.
Bobbing for Apples
Everyone had to bob for their snack today (a yummy apple). Many learned quite quickly to reach for the stem as opposed to chasing the apple around the tub. Once everyone caught their snack, they enjoyed it with a caramel dipping sauce.
Pin the Nose on the Jack-o-Lantern
Blinfolded, children tried to pin their nose closest to the center of the jack-o-lantern.
Pumpkin Smashing
Using pieces of wet paper towel, the children tried to "smash" the pumpkin.
Eyeball Rolling
Children tried to shoot eyeballs into a bucket and then rolled them back and forth to a partner.
With Thanksgiving fast approaching we have gobbled head first into many thanksgiving / turkey related crafts and activities. We are all looking forward to turkey and gravy this weekend! :)
