Music play is a great way to learn numeracy and literacy skills, and a lot of fun!! It also gives everyone exercise on really cold days when it's difficult to go outside.

Snow Angels
Snow has fallen upon our community over the last month. Children have had fun playing outside in this new wonderland and creating crafts with a winter theme. Here they made snow angels:
They tried to make some outside but a little freezing rain that covered our snow one day made that a little difficult. :)

Halloween at Susan's
Today children celebrated Halloween at Susan's. They participated in a variety of activities (as illustrated below) and had a fantabulous time!! We hope everyone had a safe and fun time trick-or-treating!! :)
Carving Pumpkins
Thanks to one of our client's parents, we were able to acquire enough pumpkins for each child to carve into a jack-o-lantern. They LOVED pulling out the "guts" and creating fun faces (there was even a princess pumpkin). We lit our jack-o-lanterns and then used them as our light during dance time. We also cooked the seeds and had them as part of our afternoon snack.

Bobbing for Apples
Everyone had to bob for their snack today (a yummy apple). Many learned quite quickly to reach for the stem as opposed to chasing the apple around the tub. Once everyone caught their snack, they enjoyed it with a caramel dipping sauce.

Pin the Nose on the Jack-o-Lantern
Blinfolded, children tried to pin their nose closest to the center of the jack-o-lantern.

The Letter I
We have been studying the letter I this week. Children have worked with, investigated and created items that begin with the letter I. Some of the many activities with the letter I that they enjoyed were making igloos from marshmallows and having an ice cream snack.
New Toys = Creativity
Whenever we get new toys at Susan's, we always use our imagination to play with them to their full extent. Here, lacrosse sticks became horses, trumpets, fishing poles, baby holders and more!! :)

Let's Make a Deal
Everyone had a wonderful day at the park today! One of the rules at Susan's is you need to try to eat your snack before you get to play. Some found this not a problem, while others figured they shouldn't eat before playing. :) Hence, "Let's Make a Deal" derived from this!!
