Winter is Coming!

Susan has really enjoyed teaching the kidlets poems this year. The kids really enjoy learning via rhyming and singing. We were discussing in this theme what animals do when winter comes. We learned about hibernation, adaptation, and migration. We had a great Canada Goose migration poem and I managed to snap a picture of a completed project but was unable to pin any kid down long enough to snap a picture of them. Make sure to pause so you can read the Canada Goose poem it is fantastic. Another animal we learned about with adaptation is bats. The kids really enjoyed finding out that bats sleep upside down!

Halloween Part 2!

Our Halloween was full of lots of fun and scary things! We enjoyed creating Halloween themed puppets along with windy black cats! Enjoy!

Happy Halloween PT 1!

Bats, black cats and owls oh my! Here is our belated Halloween part 1 blog post! I know I am late but only by 17 days-ish! Which is an accomplishment I know! (No pat on the back necessary) We had a great Halloween this year where we made so many crafts and had so much fun that I was too tired to create the blog post at the time. This was the first year that we got invited to go to one of the schools and we enjoyed their Halloween parade where one of our little ones got escorted around the gym by a brother. It was great fun and alas I did not manage to take any pictures. It was a busy Halloween which we enjoyed very much! I hope you enjoy the slideshow of our crafts!

Do You Gobble With Your Wattle?

This week is Turkey week! No pilgrims, cornucopias, or shoes with buckles for this lot. We were all about the Turkeys! I have had to correct a lot of bock, bocks (not entirely sure how to spell what a chicken says) and a lot of cock-a-doddle-dos! I even heard a gobble gobble do! I was more likely to let that one slide. All and all it was a fantastic week with our bunch of turkeys. Hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Fall Leaves

Fall is upon us. The kids have been enjoying how the leaves have been changing colours. Now that they are falling from the trees they have found many things to do with them some of which include cooking with them in their pretend kitchens, crushing them beneath their trikes and examining all their intricacies. We had decided to enjoy this lovely time of year in our theme for crafts this week. One of which as you will see is missing an important leaf colour choice in the poem. My apologies on that one, my eagerness to go from painting to pasting cost us one very important leaf colour. Sorry orange you will be forever in our hearts but not in our poem!

Vegetables Part 2!

I still cannot believe that we have enough vegetables for two blog posts! The second week we worked on cauliflower (with the dreaded puff balls which I detest), peas and the ever confusing potato and tomato. How could two things which sound so familiar be so different? Enjoy!

Vegetables Part 1

The last couple of weeks with harvest occurring in our province we have been discussing with the kids things that grow that we eat. Cue two weeks of vegetables! Can you believe that we love vegetables so much we created two blog posts worth of crafts? To be honest I believe the kids enjoyed making the vegetables more than if I tried to feed said vegetable to them. Hope you enjoy!

Bookworms!!

Summer is over! School has begun! So at Susan's with the departure of kidlets to school we have honoured them by creating back to school inspired crafts. We started with apples, which I wasn't able or should I say I wasn't apple to grab the kids long enough to snap a picture, so this blog post consists of our next craft... BOOKWORMS!! We love to read at Susan's so a craft with a book title specifically tailored (by yours truly) for each kid held by an adorable worm was a great way to start us off with a new blogpost for the fall. I hope this inspires you to cuddle up with a great book this time of year!

Happy Father's Day!!

This Father's Day I was able to keep up with creating crafts with the kids for their dear ol' Dad and slowing them down long enough to take a picture. The kids were very excited to make something especially for Dad! Sorry those wonderful Moms out there I was not able to take pictures of your special Mother's Day crafts. I was lucky enough to have some fantastic Moms (and one Dad) grab a camera and take a picture of the spectacle we sent home for the kids and their Fathers. Thanks again ladies and gent you know who you are!

Wiggly Jiggly Bugs!

As the kids at the daycare get older there are more and more things that they are discovering with each season. This spring and almost summer we are now discovering all kinds of bugs. To keep in this theme of discovery we created our own bugs: caterpillars (made from paper chains) and earthworms (made of fruit o's)! I definitely enjoyed playing with our creations as opposed to the real tent caterpillars which have been invading our yard!
